Step-Parent Adoption
Fee: $500.00

A Step-Parent Adoption allows a step-parent to legally adopt their spouse’s child and establish permanent parental rights. The $500 flat fee includes preparation of the Civil Cover Sheet, Petition for Adoption, Request to Waive Investigation, Request for Submission related to the waiver, Order Waiving Investigation and Fees, Consent to Adoption (if the child is age 14 or older), Consent to Adoption and Consent to Termination of Parental Rights of the biological parent whose rights are being terminated, Request for Submission, and Proposed Order, along with notary services, required court copies, and filing with the court. Court filing fees are not included and are paid separately; in the Fourth Judicial District (Elko County), the current filing fee is approximately $213, though fees may vary by court. A mandatory adoption hearing is required, and the adoptee and adopting parent(s) must attend. If the biological parent whose rights are being terminated does not consent to the adoption, a separate Termination of Parental Rights action will be required at an additional cost; if that biological parent is deceased, a certified death certificate is attached to the petition. This service is limited to document preparation and filing and does not include legal advice or court representation.

Adult Adoption
Fee: $500.00
An Adult Adoption allows one adult to legally adopt another adult, creating a permanent parent-child relationship under Nevada law. The $500 flat fee includes preparation of the Civil Cover Sheet, Petition for Adoption, Consent to Adoption by the adult adoptee, Spousal Consent to Adoption (if the adoptee is married), Request for Submission, and Proposed Order, along with notary services, required court copies, and filing with the court. Court filing fees are not included and are paid separately; in the Fourth Judicial District (Elko County), the current filing fee is approximately $213, though fees may vary by court. If the adult adoptee requests a legal name change as part of the adoption, a Notice of Publication is required and newspaper publication fees are an additional cost. No parental consent is required for an adult adoption; however, the adopting party must be at least ten (10) years older than the adoptee. This service is limited to document preparation and filing and does not include legal advice or court representation.
