1. What is a legal document preparer in Nevada? A Legal Document Preparer is a registered and bonded professional authorized to prepare legal documents at a client’s direction. Legal Document Preparers assist with completing and formatting court and legal paperwork but do not represent clients in court.
2. Are you attorneys? No. DPS of Northern Nevada is not a law firm. We are not attorneys licensed in the State of Nevada and are not authorized to provide legal advice, legal opinions, or recommendations regarding legal rights or strategy.
3. What services do you provide? We prepare legal documents at the client’s direction using the information provided to us. Our services include the preparation of divorce and family law documents, motions, stipulations, answers and oppositions, name change documents, adoption and guardianship paperwork, deeds, estate-related documents, and other non-attorney legal filings. All documents are prepared in accordance with Nevada court formatting and filing requirements.
4. What services do you not provide? We do not provide legal advice, legal opinions, or recommendations regarding a client’s legal rights, options, or strategy. We do not tell clients what they should file, which documents are best for their situation, or how a court is likely to rule. We do not represent clients in court, communicate with judges or opposing parties on a client’s behalf, or guarantee any legal outcome. Matters that become contested or require legal analysis may require the assistance of a licensed attorney.
5. How does the process work? The process begins when a client selects a service through our website and completes the secure JotForm questionnaire. After the questionnaire is submitted, an invoice is issued through Wave. Work on the requested documents begins after payment is received. Once payment has been confirmed, the documents are prepared and delivered within the stated turnaround time, provided all required information has been supplied.
6. What is the JotForm questionnaire? The JotForm questionnaire is a secure online worksheet used to collect the information necessary to prepare documents. Clients may save their progress and return later if needed. Documents are prepared using the information provided exactly as submitted.
7. How and when is payment made? After a completed JotForm is submitted, an invoice is sent via Wave. Work on documents begins after payment is received. Court filing fees are separate and are paid directly by the client unless otherwise stated.
8. How long does it take to receive documents?Documents are delivered within 48 hours after payment is received, excluding weekends and court holidays. This turnaround time is guaranteed, provided all required information has been submitted accurately.
9. What if the court requires corrections or rejects a filing? If a court requests corrections due to formatting or clerical issues, reasonable revisions are provided at no additional charge. Court decisions, judicial discretion, and legal outcomes are outside our control.
10. Where can clients leave a five-star review? If clients are satisfied with our services, five-star reviews are always appreciated. Reviews may be left on our Google Business Profile by searching DPS of Northern Nevada on Google and selecting “Write a Review.”
