Guardianship of Child/ren

A Minor Guardianship is a court process used to appoint a guardian to care for a child and, if applicable, manage the child’s estate. The $450 flat fee includes preparation of the Civil Cover Sheet, Petition for Guardianship, Citation to Appear and Show Cause, Certificate of Mailing, Request for Submission, and Proposed Order, along with notary services, required court copies, and filing with the court. Court filing fees are $0 when the child has no estate or income; if the child does have an estate or income, court fees may apply and are typically minimal, depending on the circumstances. Certified mailing to required family members is billed separately at $10 per recipient. Guardianships may cover the person, the estate, or both, and an Annual Guardianship Report must be filed each year on the anniversary of the order. This service is limited to document preparation and filing and does not include legal advice or court representation.

Guardianship of an Adult

Fee: $450.00

An Adult Guardianship is used when an adult is unable to manage their personal affairs, finances, or both, and a court-appointed guardian is required. The $450 flat fee includes preparation of the Civil Cover Sheet, Petition for Guardianship, Notice of Petition, Citation to Appear and Show Cause, Physician’s Certificate of Incapacity, Certificate of Mailing, and Proposed Order, along with notary services, required court copies, and filing with the court. Court filing fees are $0 when the proposed ward has no income or estate; if the proposed ward does receive income or has an estate, court fees may apply and are generally minimal, depending on the situation. Certified mailing to required family members is billed separately at $10 per recipient. Guardianships may cover the person, the estate, or both, and an Annual Guardianship Report is required each year on the anniversary of the order. Termination of Guardianship

Fee: $450.00

Termination of Guardianship is a court process used to formally end an existing guardianship when it is no longer necessary or appropriate. The $450 flat fee includes preparation of the Civil Cover Sheet, Petition to Terminate Guardianship, Citation to Appear and Show Cause, Affidavit of Service, Certificate of Mailing, Request for Submission, and Proposed Order, along with notary services, required court copies, and filing with the court. Court filing fees may apply depending on the circumstances of the case; any applicable court fees are paid separately. This service is limited to document preparation and filing and does not include legal advice or court representation.

Six Month Temporary of Guardianship (for Minor Child)

Fee: $50.00

A Six-Month Temporary Child Guardianship authorizes a temporary guardian to care for a minor child when a legal parent is unable to do so for a limited period of time. The $50 flat fee includes preparation of the temporary guardianship document, notary services, and certified copies as needed. At least one legal parent or legal guardian must sign and notarize the document, the temporary guardian must also sign and notarize, and children age 14 or older must provide written consent. This document is valid for six (6) months, is not filed with the court, and is retained by the guardian for purposes such as school enrollment, medical care, and day-to-day decision-making.
